Over the past 3 to 6 months, Boston’s rental market has seen a notable decline in prices across all unit sizes. Studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom apartments have each dropped by double-digit percentages compared to the previous quarter. This cooling trend is largely driven by increased rental inventory coming onto the market and seasonal slowdowns in leasing activity, which have softened demand. Economic uncertainty and a greater shift toward remote work may also be giving renters more flexibility to seek more affordable options outside the city core. As of Q1 2025, the median rent in Boston is approximately $3,300 per month.
