For four nights this summer, a different kind of wild life will take over the LA Zoo when Roaring Nights hosts live music, food and special events to raise money for the real wildlife who are permanent residents of the zoo. The event will take place on four nights with different musical themes: June 24: ’90s Night Thanks to everyone who attended our “tight” ’90s revival featuring Saved by the 90s, DJ Johnny Hawkes, and DJ Severe, plus a classic video game truck and a costume contest where winners “Wayne & Garth” took home awesome swag. Schwing! July 29: Country Night Yee-haw…our second Roaring Nights was a hootin’ and a hollerin’ success! Folks danced and sang along to country music’s biggest hits covered by local favorite Highway Starr plus a mix of Southern styles fromGrant Langston and the Supermodels, Rocky Neck Bluegrass Band, and South Bay Country. The event also featured line-dancing lessons with one of the best So-Cal instructors, Kerry Kick. August 26: Indie Night The high-energy antics of headliners Black Crystal Wolf Kids had the crowd singing along to the best indie tracks ever, from the likes of Hozier, The Black Keys, Pavement, and The Pixies. Rounding out the dynamic line-up were FifthLaw—with its electronica, folk, and punk influences—and the blues-fueled Well Hung Heart, while DJ Steve Prior spun power sets all night long. September 16: ’80s Night Back by popular demand is a most “tubular” evening. Legendary DJ Richard Blade will be spinning the best music of the era while paying tribute to late icons Prince and David Bowie, and cover bandBetamaxx will have you singing and skanking with wild abandon. This “radical” time comes complete withvintage video games—’80s fashions are a must! Tickets are $25 and may be purchased here.
